Morocco highlights readiness and ambition ahead of CAN 2025 during media launch in Senegal
Morocco is moving confidently toward hosting an outstanding edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, according to the Moroccan Ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri, who spoke Saturday in Dakar at the official launch of Senegal’s special media coverage plan for the tournament.
Addressing diplomats, media professionals, cultural figures and former football icons, Naciri emphasized that the Kingdom is fully committed to delivering a historic and exemplary continental event.
“As the tournament approaches, Morocco has mobilized to offer Africa a CAN that reflects its ambitions. Modern stadiums, upgraded infrastructure, reinforced accommodation capacity and improved training centers are at the heart of preparations, along with urban development to guarantee optimal conditions for teams, officials and supporters,” he said.
Naciri also highlighted the cultural dimension that will accompany the competition, noting that programming will extend far beyond stadiums.
“The Kingdom has chosen to make this CAN a cultural celebration. Artistic, musical, heritage and social initiatives will take place throughout the tournament, reaching even the most remote areas. This cultural component was designed as a tool of inclusion, unity and proximity among African nations,” he added.
For the ambassador, the Africa Cup of Nations is not only a sporting contest, but also an emotional and symbolic moment for the continent. He recalled Morocco’s commitment to sports development driven by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
“It is a moment where our peoples celebrate together, where football becomes a common language and where flags, chants, emotions and shared pride bring us closer beyond borders. Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, sport, and football in particular, holds a strategic role as a driver of youth development, social inclusion and international influence,” Naciri noted.
From the media perspective, RTS Director General Pape Alé Niang described CAN 2025 as a significant milestone for Senegal and acknowledged Morocco’s central role in broadcasting arrangements. He confirmed that a large audiovisual team will be deployed, including on-site studios and dedicated programming, recalling that RTS holds exclusive broadcasting rights in Senegal.
Meanwhile, President of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, praised Morocco’s preparation efforts, expressing confidence that the Senegalese national team, which will be based in Tangier during the group stage, will receive a warm reception.
He pointed to the level of facilities and logistics prepared by Morocco, stating that they meet the highest international standards.
The event concluded with the screening of a video presentation titled “Postcard from Morocco,” which showcased the country’s landscapes, infrastructure and progress in preparations for the competition, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
