Dakhla-Oued Eddahab: More Than 1.5 Billion Dirhams to Elevate the Region into a Continental Logistics Hub
The Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region has taken a new step in its economic transformation with the signing of three major agreements aimed at turning the area into a strategic logistics platform at the continental level. Mobilizing more than 1.5 billion dirhams in private investment, these projects will create around 1,000 stable jobs, further strengthening economic attractiveness and regional influence.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior government and institutional officials, including Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ali Khalil, Wali of the region, and Yanja Al Khattat, President of the Regional Council. Also present were Ghassane El Machrafi, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development (AMDL), and Benacer Boulaajoul, Director General of NARSA.
These projects are fully in line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, which aims to make Dakhla-Oued Eddahab an integrated logistics hub, open to Africa and supported by the development of the Kingdom’s Atlantic coastline.
A roadmap built around three strategic infrastructures
- The El Argoub economic and logistics activity zone
Covering 20 hectares and backed by an investment of 134 million dirhams, this zone will offer modern infrastructure that meets international standards. Located along the RN1, it will support local commercial activity, respond to domestic consumption needs and contribute to the growth of regional tourism. - The El Guerguerat trade and distribution zone
Spread across 30 hectares near the strategic El Guerguerat border post, this structuring zone aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s foreign trade. The AMDL will intervene through an innovative public-private partnership model to ensure optimal implementation of the project. - The El Guerguerat road center
Co-financed by NARSA, this center will provide transport operators connecting Morocco to sub-Saharan Africa with secure and functional facilities. It will serve as an essential link for smoothing traffic and improving road safety along this strategic corridor.
A coordinated governance model serving regional development
The implementation of these projects is based on close coordination between public actors and private partners, illustrating modern and efficient governance. It reflects a shared commitment to accelerating regional integration and positioning Dakhla at the heart of future logistics corridors linking Morocco to sub-Saharan Africa.
With these structuring initiatives, the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region is firmly establishing itself as a key player in national and continental economic dynamics, laying the groundwork for sustainable, inclusive development that generates opportunities for local populations.
