AFCON 2025: First ‘Inspire & Debate’ Conference Held in AMCI Fan Zone in Rabat

This conference series, dedicated to international students and graduates in Morocco, is part of the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to African youth.

This initiative also offers a dynamic platform for exchange, debate, and inspiration around the major challenges facing the African continent.

The first conference in this series, on the theme of “Sport and Youth Employability in Africa,” was held on Tuesday in the conference room of the International University City of Rabat, part of the AMCI.

It brought together more than 150 participants, including African ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of Morocco, senior institutional officials, private sector actors, and many international students.

This meeting, which was opened by Ambassador and AMCI Director General Mohamed Methqal, was attended by eminent speakers, including H.E. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of The Gambia and winner of the Kingdom of Morocco Cooperation Award, and H.E. Kazimbaya Shakilla Umutoni, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Morocco.

Also taking part were Abdoulaye Diop, Managing Partner of Mazars and winner of the Kingdom of Morocco Cooperation Award, Zakaria Fahim, Managing Partner of the consulting firm BDO Morocco, and Reda Laraichi, Vice President of the investment company RWG – Rainbow World Group.

During the conference, discussions highlighted the strategic role of sport in facilitating the socio-economic integration of young people by stimulating entrepreneurship, vocational training, and social inclusion through continental initiatives.

The event also provided an opportunity for a rich exchange between students and speakers on various topics, including the importance for a country of hosting a major sporting competition such as the AFCON and its socio-economic benefits, mechanisms to enable young football talents to break through, and the growing role of e-sports and the use of new technologies in the field of sport in Africa.

Through the “Inspire & Debate” conference series, AMCI reaffirms its commitment to solidarity-based and effective South-South cooperation, placing youth, dialogue, and experience sharing at the heart of its action, in line with the Royal Vision for an emerging and sustainable Africa.

Three other conferences are scheduled to take place soon as part of this series, addressing strategic themes related to youth, innovation, employability, and sustainable development in Africa.

In this regard, a conference is scheduled for January 7 at 6 p.m. on the theme of “Sport, Football, and African Integration,” while another conference will be held on January 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. on “Innovation, Digital Technology, and the Future of African Sport.” In addition, a conference will be held on January 16, 2026, at 6 p.m. on the theme “Morocco 2030: an African ambition.”
