CAF Reschedules the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 to July 25 – August 16

In October 2024, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026, which was initially scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

Following discussions between CAF and its partners, including FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF has decided to reschedule the dates of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 to July 25 to August 16, 2026, in order to ensure the success of this major women’s competition, taking into account certain unforeseen circumstances.

Preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026 are currently underway, and all parties remain confident in the tournament’s success.

For the first time, the final phase will bring together 16 national teams, compared to 12 in previous editions. The qualified teams are Morocco, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Algeria, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Cape Verde, South Africa, Senegal, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Mali and Egypt.

The group stage draw has already taken place. Group A includes Morocco, Senegal, Algeria and Kenya. Group B is composed of Tanzania, Burkina Faso, South Africa and Ivory Coast. Group C brings together Zambia, Nigeria, Egypt and Malawi. Group D includes Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and Cape Verde.

This edition will also serve as the continental qualifying tournament for the 2027 Women’s World Cup scheduled to take place in Brazil.
