This session was devoted to the examination of several important socio-economic proposals, including the creation of the Arab Medicines Agency “Waad,” the Council of Arab Ministers in charge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Council of Arab Ministers of Trade, the Arab Customs Affairs Council, and the Arab Center for AI.
The program for this session included the presentation of the Secretary-General’s report and follow-up on the implementation of the resolutions of the 115th session of the Council, in addition to the economic and social dossier for the 35th Summit of the Council of the League of Arab States, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia.
In addition, participants at the meeting discussed the Arab free trade area, the latest developments in the Arab Customs Union, and investment in Arab countries.
Speaking on this occasion, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abou Al-Gheït welcomed the initiatives to create new ministerial councils and improve the performance of specialized Arab organizations, amid the need for developing joint action mechanisms.
He also spotlighted flexibility in planning and implementation in order to achieve the desired objectives, in accordance with the Charter of the League of Arab States, as a reference for any effective collective Arab action.
