Smara Declaration: “The Istiqlal Party” Reaffirms its Support for the Autonomy Plan and the Development of the Southern Provinces

At the end of the proceedings, participants adopted the Smara Declaration, reaffirming:

  • commitment to the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty, described by the UN as serious, credible and realistic;
  • the success of the new development model of the Southern Provinces, which is transforming the region into an economic and social hub;
  • the need to accelerate the implementation of advanced regionalization with a view to reaching a definitive settlement of the national question.

The Istiqlal Party also praised the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which has enabled Morocco to secure major diplomatic victories in favor of the Moroccan identity of the Sahara, while calling for strengthened national mobilization and unity around the Sovereign.
