Mexico: Memorandum of Understanding between CGEM and the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico

The agreement, signed by CGEM President Chakib Alj and CONCAMIN President Alejandro Malagón Barragán, seeks to explore new opportunities for investment and partnership in sectors of common interest and to diversify bilateral trade exchanges.

Signed in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, the memorandum also aims to facilitate the organization of joint industrial and trade fairs and forums, to support dialogue between economic stakeholders from both countries, and to encourage the implementation of policies and legislation that promote investment and bilateral trade.

The agreement, which paves the way for specific accords and the development of possible joint projects, also includes the possibility of establishing a joint commission tasked with coordinating and monitoring the defined cooperation programs.

The signing of this agreement is intended to further develop economic cooperation and establish fruitful partnerships between the two countries, Mr. Alj stressed on this occasion. He added that it also opens the way to the implementation of promising investment projects that will strengthen relations between the Moroccan and Mexican private sectors.

The CGEM President also underlined the firm determination to boost trade between the two countries and to explore joint investment opportunities across various sectors, notably industry, agribusiness, tourism, renewable energy and technological innovation.

He highlighted Morocco’s significant progress in recent years, which has enabled the Kingdom to position itself as Africa’s leading automobile producer and a leader in the aerospace, textile, pharmaceutical and agribusiness sectors. He further noted that Morocco offers a favorable climate for investment thanks to its political stability, modern infrastructure, particularly in ports and logistics, and a highly skilled workforce.

For his part, CONCAMIN President Alejandro Malagón Barragán told MAP that both countries are called upon to explore new opportunities for partnership and complementarity in several industrial sectors, including pharmaceuticals and food industries.

He emphasized that Morocco has experienced rapid growth in recent years and has numerous natural and economic assets that could foster greater complementarity with Mexico and help lay the foundations for long-term cooperation between the two countries.

The signing of this agreement forms part of an economic mission led by the CGEM to Mexico from September 22 to 25. Organized in coordination with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Mexico, this visit aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries and to explore new opportunities for investment and partnership.
