This meeting, organized as part of the policy of proximity for the benefit of Moroccans abroad, provided an opportunity to listen to the concerns and expectations of the diaspora established in New York and neighboring states.
Speaking on this occasion, Morocco’s Consul General, Mohamed Ait Bihi, recalled the High Solicitude with which His Majesty King Mohammed VI continues to surround Moroccans around the world. He underlined that, in line with the High Royal Guidelines, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates is working to improve consular services within the framework of its proximity policy, notably through the digitalization of services and the expansion of the consular network across the globe.
It is within this perspective, noted Mr. Ait Bihi, that the communication meeting with Moroccans residing in the greater New York region and neighboring states was organized. He stressed that the action of the Consulate General of Morocco goes beyond consular services, as it will continue to hold events aimed at strengthening the community’s ties with its culture of origin, as well as with the all-encompassing development dynamic underway in the Kingdom in various fields.
He also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination with all components of the Moroccan community for greater mobilization in support of the defense of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and national constants. He called on Moroccan talents to contribute to the march of progress launched under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
During the meeting, several members of the Moroccan community in the greater New York area expressed their attachment to the motherland and their continued willingness to contribute to the Kingdom’s ongoing development dynamic.
They also stressed the importance of further improving services provided to Moroccans in the United States, and of reinforcing the cultural component in order to transmit it to younger and future generations, while calling for partnerships in this regard and the holding of regular meetings with MRE.
The communication meeting was attended by several Moroccan talents, particularly in the fields of culture, scientific research, sports, and media, in addition to civil society actors.
