While Hamas pretends to “consult” its internal bodies, this is in reality only a stalling tactic by a desperate terrorist group that refuses to acknowledge its responsibility for the catastrophe it has itself caused. The American plan, simple and pragmatic, aims first and foremost to end the suffering: an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages within 72 hours, and the disarmament of a militia that on 7 October 2023 carried out one of the most bloody and cowardly attacks against Israel, triggering a war that still ravages the region.
Accustomed to cynical calculations and media manipulation, Hamas prefers to keep the people of Gaza hostage to its suicidal strategy. Rather than protecting its people, it sacrifices them on the altar of its violent ideology, refusing any compromise even when the international community offers a hand to save what can still be saved.
By setting a clear deadline, Trump finally places Hamas face to face with its responsibilities: either it accepts peace, or it will be confronted with an unprecedented response. This time, the world will not be satisfied with half-measures or verbal condemnations.
The truth is simple: Hamas is not a resistance force but a terrorist organization that has seized the voice and future of the Palestinians. Its rejection of the American plan would be further proof of its contempt for human life and its morbid obsession with violence.
Faced with the American ultimatum, the hour of truth is approaching. Hamas must choose: peace and survival, or total annihilation.
