For Patrice Motsepe and CAF, Morocco Remains the “Plan A,” “Plan B,” and “Plan C” for AFCON 2025

In recent days, speculation had circulated about a possible change of host country amid demonstrations in certain Moroccan cities organized by the GenZ movement calling for reforms in the education and public health sectors.

Speaking at the CAF General Assembly held on Monday in Kinshasa, Motsepe made the organization’s stance crystal clear: “I’ve been asked questions about what’s happening in Morocco and about our position, and our position is very clear: Morocco is Plan A, Morocco is Plan B, and Morocco is Plan C.”

The South African official reaffirmed CAF’s full confidence in the Kingdom, while praising the efforts of the Moroccan government and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to ensure a model organization of the continental tournament.

“We are absolutely confident. As CAF, we will continue to cooperate and work with the government, the people, and all the citizens of Morocco to host the most successful AFCON in history,” he declared.
