Exercise “Chergui 2025”: Morocco and France Strengthen an Exemplary Military Alliance in the Errachidia Desert

Based on a realistic scenario simulating the defense of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, “Chergui 2025” involves advanced land and air assets, including M1A2 Abrams tanks, Moroccan Gazelle helicopters, and French Tigre and NH90 aircraft—all mobilized to test operational coordination in an extreme environment shaped by the Atlas Mountains, vast sand plains, and wide temperature variations.

The joint deployment of elite units—among them the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment, the 1st Chasseur Regiment, the 1st Tirailleur Regiment, and the command module of the 4th Air Combat Brigade—highlights the tactical complementarity and high quality of cooperation between the two armies.

Structured in two stages—a CPX (Command Post Exercise) focused on inter-army planning, and a LIVEX (Live Exercise) involving real-world tactical maneuvers—the exercise aims to enhance interoperability, refine command capabilities, and develop joint responses to emerging regional threats.

Beyond its military dimension, “Chergui 2025” embodies the vitality of Franco-Moroccan cooperation, grounded in a shared vision: to make the Euro-Mediterranean and Sahelo-Saharan region a space of peace, stability, and shared prosperity.

This renewed commitment underscores the determination of both nations to strengthen a historic alliance built to last, making the Franco-Moroccan military partnership a model of modern, agile, and forward-looking cooperation.
