Speaking firmly on the sidelines of CAF’s 47th Ordinary General Assembly, Motsepe dismissed recent speculation about a possible change in venue. “I’ve received many questions about what’s happening in Morocco and what our position is. Our stance is very clear: Morocco is plan A, plan B, and plan C. In other words, Morocco is the only plan for hosting AFCON 2025,” he declared.
The CAF President emphasized that the organization has full confidence in Morocco’s capabilities, praising the country’s infrastructure and commitment to African football. He added, “We are absolutely confident. CAF will continue working closely with the Moroccan Football Federation, the Moroccan government, and the Moroccan people to deliver the most successful AFCON in history.”
Morocco was officially awarded hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as part of a broader vision to strengthen Africa’s sporting presence on the global stage. The Kingdom has made major investments in world-class facilities and organization standards, reaffirming its position as a regional leader in hosting major international events.
