Morocco and France Sign Two Cooperation Agreements to Boost Livestock Resilience and Agricultural Innovation

The first agreement was concluded between the National Association of Sheep and Goats (ANOC), Races Ovines des Massifs Sélection (ROM), the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and the Chamber of Agriculture of Isère. The signing ceremony was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari.

This agreement focuses on improving the performance and resilience of sheep and goat farming in the face of climate and economic challenges. It aims to modernize farming systems and training programs, enhance the genetic quality of local breeds, and promote goat milk production in northern Morocco.

The second cooperation agreement was signed between the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and the Chamber of Agriculture of Isère. It highlights the promotion of agricultural value chains and the sustainable management of natural resources, emphasizing knowledge exchange and the joint development of innovative agricultural projects.

This renewed partnership builds upon cooperation first launched in 2015, with the goal of strengthening institutional capacities and advancing professional training initiatives.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mohammed El Bouyahyaoui, President of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Agriculture; Abdeslam Biari, President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Chamber of Agriculture; and Mohamed Fikrat, Chairman of the Board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc.

According to Mr. El Bouyahyaoui, the new partnership between the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions will give fresh momentum to the exchange of expertise and professional visits between the two countries. He added that the next edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), dedicated to sustainable livestock, will further strengthen cooperation between professionals from both sides.

Morocco’s strong participation in the 34th Livestock Summit, Europe’s largest professional gathering in the sector, is seen as a strategic opportunity to share the Kingdom’s experience in building efficient and sustainable agricultural systems with French and international partners.

In this context, the Moroccan delegation emphasized that, following the success of the Morocco-France Cross Agricultural Year, the upcoming SIAM edition will mark another milestone in consolidating partnerships between the livestock industries of both nations.

The opening day of the event featured the inauguration of the Moroccan pavilion and a series of meetings between Minister El Bouari and several French officials, including Dominique Estrosi Sassone, President of the Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee and Senator for Alpes-Maritimes, and Fabienne Buccio, Prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
