Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the final, scheduled for Sunday night at Santiago’s National Stadium between Morocco and Argentina, Placente stated that the encounter “will be difficult,” while stressing that the Argentine team “respects all its opponents without exception.”
The Argentine coach explained that the starting lineup “will not see major changes,” apart from “two or three adjustments at most,” in order to maintain the group’s tactical cohesion.
He added that the players feel “a natural kind of pressure” that comes with this type of event, noting that simply reaching the final “is already a valuable experience that must be fully enjoyed.”
Placente also expressed his desire to relive “the unique feeling of winning a world title,” something he experienced as a player during the 1997 U20 World Cup in Malaysia, which Argentina won.
For his part, Argentina’s captain, Julio Soler, stated that “the atmosphere within the team is extremely positive,” emphasizing that “the strong bonds between players strengthen cohesion both on and off the pitch.”
He added that reaching this stage of the competition “is the result of significant work and sustained effort,” pointing out that the players “are living an incredible dream and are determined to turn it into reality.”
Argentina, which will be playing its eighth final in this age category (with six world titles already to its name), booked its ticket for the much-anticipated clash against Morocco after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Colombia, thanks to a second-half goal scored by Mateo Silvetti.
