ONMT and Delta Air Lines Inaugurate First Direct Atlanta–Marrakech Route

This new route, operated three times a week, places Marrakech on the map of the world’s largest air hub, linking the Red City to over 125 U.S. destinations, according to a statement from the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT).

For the ONMT, which initiated this strategic partnership with Delta Air Lines, the launch represents a concrete milestone in strengthening ties between Morocco and the North American market. After New York and Montreal, Marrakech–Atlanta now becomes the third direct gateway from North America, the statement added.

This route is also Delta Air Lines’ first connection to North Africa, highlighting the growing interest of American travelers in Morocco.

The launch complements a rapidly expanding network. In addition to flights operated by Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca to New York, Washington, and Miami, Morocco now boasts three North American hubs directly connected to Marrakech: Montreal (Air Transat), New York (United Airlines), and Atlanta (Delta Air Lines).

The potential of the U.S. market is considerable. In 2024, more than 402,000 American tourists visited Morocco, an increase of 7 percent compared to 2023. Figures from the first half of the current year confirm this upward trend. The ONMT aims to reach one million American visitors in the medium term.

With this new connection, the ONMT reaffirms its ambitious strategy to firmly establish Morocco among the world’s leading travel destinations by expanding direct point-to-point routes, consolidating its presence in strategic markets, and diversifying source regions to strengthen the Kingdom’s resilience and global appeal.

Founded in 1925 and based in Atlanta, Delta Air Lines operates more than 5,000 daily flights to over 300 destinations across six continents. Its extensive network and loyalty program, with more than 100 million members, provide deep insight into American travelers’ preferred destinations.

By adding Marrakech to its portfolio of international routes, Delta Air Lines places Morocco firmly on the radar of a loyal, high-spending clientele for whom trust in the Delta brand is a key factor in travel planning.
