This major global security event will bring together senior security officials and police chiefs from across five continents, reflecting international efforts to strengthen cooperation against transnational threats and emerging forms of crime.
According to information provided by INTERPOL’s General Secretariat, the opening ceremony will take place on Monday, November 24, at 10:30 a.m., while the session will conclude on Thursday, November 27. Plenary sessions will be held behind closed doors, in line with the organization’s internal regulations. However, accredited media will be allowed to conduct interviews with INTERPOL officials or heads of delegations upon prior request.
The choice of Marrakech as the host city for this high-level gathering is seen by many experts as a sign of growing confidence in Morocco’s leadership in the fields of security, stability, and institutional governance.
Moroccan authorities announced that journalists wishing to cover the event must submit their accreditation requests before October 31 through the official address of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). Applicants are required to hold a valid press card and obtain official accreditation, given the sensitive nature of the congress and the heightened security measures accompanying it.
The General Assembly is INTERPOL’s highest governing body. It meets annually to define the organization’s political directions, strategic plans, and budget, and to adopt resolutions on mechanisms for international cooperation and coordination in the fight against transnational crime.
Participants will also examine the proposed Silver Notice, an initiative designed to help trace individuals in vulnerable situations or at risk of disappearance, while enhancing cross-border cooperation to ensure their protection. The session will further include the election of new members to the Executive Committee, including INTERPOL’s next President, to succeed those whose terms are coming to an end.
