Built on an area of 22,200 square meters, the new “Hirschmann Automotive” site, which complements the existing one in Kenitra, required an investment of around 180 million dirhams.
Located in the “Cleantech” Industrial Acceleration Zone, the new facility is expected to create around 600 direct jobs (70 currently) by the end of 2026, contributing not only to the development of Hirschmann Automotive Morocco but also to the economic growth of the Oriental region, according to the company’s representatives.
“The plant will initially focus on the production of high-voltage components and custom-made special cable assemblies,” they stated.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Wali of the Oriental region and Governor of the Oujda-Angad Prefecture, Khatib El Hebil, the President of the Regional Council of the Oriental, Mohamed Bouarourou, the Director General of the Oriental Development Agency, Mohamed Mbarki, company executives, and several other dignitaries.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. El Hebil emphasized that the opening of this new industrial unit reflects investors’ renewed confidence in the potential of the Oriental region and highlights the numerous opportunities it offers in terms of investment, protection, and job creation.
“Oujda, a city rich in history and culture, is gradually transforming into a true hub for industrial, logistical, and technological development. Its strategic geographical location, along with the vitality of its youth and the quality of its human resources, make it a preferred destination for ambitious and forward-looking companies, thanks to the constant commitment of the State and its partners,” he noted, adding that the Oriental region is undergoing a profound transformation on multiple levels.
The “Cleantech” Industrial Acceleration Zone in Oujda, which hosts this project, embodies this new dynamic — modern, competitive, and environmentally responsible — and serves as an ideal framework for attracting future-oriented companies focused on innovation and sustainability.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, two cooperation and partnership agreements were signed. The first between Hirschmann Automotive and Mohammed Premier University (UMP-Oujda), and the second between the same company and the School of Advanced Engineering Studies (EHEI-Oujda).
