In an atmosphere filled with patriotic fervor, hundreds of men, women, and children waved national flags and portraits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI while singing the national anthem and patriotic songs honoring the unity and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
Several participants expressed, in statements to MAP, their deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for His tireless efforts and wise leadership in managing the Moroccan Sahara issue. They also praised this major diplomatic victory, which marks a decisive step toward the definitive settlement of this artificial dispute.
“After 50 years of perseverance and diplomatic effort under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, we have shown the world that Morocco is in its Sahara and the Sahara is in its Morocco,” said Hakima Bouhouch, a Virginia-based physician near Washington.
Praising Morocco’s remarkable diplomatic achievements, she added, “This gathering reflects the pride and joy of the Moroccan community following this historic resolution, which will remain forever engraved in our memories.”
In the same spirit, Charles Dahan, President of the Federation of Moroccan Jews in Washington, described it as “a historic decision for Morocco and for all Moroccans, wherever they may be.” He affirmed that Security Council Resolution 2797 enshrines the international community’s recognition of the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
“We are deeply proud of the path that has been taken and the outcome of this diplomatic battle,” he stated.
Likewise, Naoual El Aomari, a young business management consultant, said that these collective scenes of joy reflect the unwavering mobilization of the Moroccan community behind His Majesty the King.
“This gathering also expresses our deep appreciation and pride in His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s tireless diplomatic efforts in defense of Morocco’s foremost national cause,” she added.
Similar scenes of celebration were reported in other American cities, including New York and Orlando, demonstrating the strong attachment of the Moroccan community in the United States to the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and highlighting the vital role of Moroccans abroad in defending the country’s supreme interests.
