Fatim-Zahra Ammor: Over 16.6 Million Tourists Visited Morocco in Ten Months

This strong performance reflects the exceptional momentum of the tourism sector, driven by the 2023 Tourism Roadmap and growing confidence from both national and international investors, noted the Minister during the signing ceremony of a letter of intent between the Alliances Group and Rixos Hotels.

According to Ammor, Morocco now ranks among the world’s 20 most dynamic tourist destinations and currently holds 13th place globally, according to UN Tourism rankings. Since 2023, 43,000 new beds have been added across the country, demonstrating a significant expansion of accommodation capacity.

She also praised the strategic partnership between Alliances Group and Rixos Hotels, which introduces to Morocco the “Luxury All-Inclusive” concept—an immersive, high-end hospitality experience led by one of the world’s foremost names in luxury resort tourism.

With an estimated investment of 1.5 billion dirhams (MMDH), this project is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, highlighting the synergy between international expertise and Moroccan know-how.

The ceremony, attended by Imad Barrakad, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development (SMIT), also showcased three major tourism projects: Rixos Marrakech (26 hectares, 400 rooms, and 60 villas), Aliée Marrakech (14 hectares, 150 rooms, and 50 villas), and Rixos Lixus – Larache (7.5 hectares, 400 rooms).

This collaboration aligns with Morocco’s ambition to strengthen its global appeal and expand its premium, family-oriented, and experiential tourism offering, particularly in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup.
