National Grand Prize of the Press: Awards Presented to the Laureates of the 23rd Edition

The honorary award, which pays tribute to a media personality having contributed to the evolution of the national media landscape and to the consecration of the profession’s noble principles, was granted ex aequo to journalist and publication director of “Quid.ma”, Naïm Kamal, and to the late Said El Jadidi, former journalist at the Spanish-language desk of SNRT.

As for the honorary award dedicated to Moroccan journalists working in foreign media outlets, it was awarded to beIN Sports journalist Jawad Badda and to Fatima Zahra Bouaziz, correspondent for the Spanish news agency EFE in Morocco.

In the television category, the award was granted ex aequo to Medi1 TV journalist Abdellah Jaafari for his report on the Mohammed VI Football Academy, and to Younes El Bdiwi of the Cultural Channel (SNRT) for his report on scientific Waqf in Morocco.

Regarding the radio category, the award was granted ex aequo to Al Idaa Al Watania journalists Nabila Qamimi for her report on the Green March epic, and Mounia Arshi for her piece on proposals for reforming the Family Code.

In the written press category, the award went to journalist Nabila Bakas from Le Matin for her article: “Public hospitals… when security staff dictate the rules.”

In the electronic press category, this year’s award was won by Khadija Alimoussa from TelQuel Arabi for her article on the enrollment of children in Tindouf.

In the news agency press category, the award went to journalist Mohamed Haddadi for his article: “Prayer beads, the undisputed star of gifts offered by pilgrims.”

For the investigative journalism award, it was attributed to 2M journalists Asma Aïnoun and Zakaria Dhalfi for their work: “Moukhtafoun Program: The Marouane Al-Mokaddem Case.”

In the Amazigh journalism production category, the award was granted ex aequo to Ibrahim Ishwi, journalist at Amazigh Radio, for his report: “Tada… when Amazigh tribal custom precedes international law in conflict resolution,” and to journalist Fadwa Amghar from the same station for her report: “Mussel harvesting in the province of Tiznit.”

Regarding the award dedicated to journalistic production on Sahrawi Hassani culture and heritage, it was granted to Cheikh Maâ El-Ainine, journalist at Radio Laayoune, for his report on the Tiznit-Dakhla highway, and to journalist Ghali Karhi from Laayoune TV for his report on horses in Oued-noun.

In the regional press category, the award was presented to Hafedh Malain from Laayoune Now for his report titled: “The Glorious Green March, Half a Century of Loyalty.”

For the photography award, it was granted to photojournalist Abdelmajid Bziouat from L’Économiste for his work: “M’hamid El Ghizlan… temple of nomadic heritage.”

The caricature prize was not awarded this year.

The ceremony also honored several media figures including Leïla Maâ El Ainine, Mohamed Dakka, Mohamed Seddik Maaninou and sports journalist Lino Bako.

On this occasion, the president of the jury of the 23rd edition of the National Grand Prize of the Press, Fatima Zahra Ouriaghli, praised the high standard of submissions this year, which totaled 156 works. She noted that the diversity and quality of the competing entries reflect the professionalism of Moroccan journalists and their commitment to informing public opinion with reliability and responsibility.

Ms. Ouriaghli also presented several recommendations from the jury, including the creation of an award dedicated to presentation and debate programs, considered a full professional category that contributes to enriching public discussion, as well as the creation of a special award for sports journalism to promote creativity in the field and support a stronger sports culture.

She further proposed reviewing the structure of the National Grand Prize by introducing awards for second and third place to encourage journalists.

In addition to Ms. Ouriaghli, the jury of this edition included Mohammed Taoufik Ennassiri, Mouhsine Bountaj, Abdellatif Bensfia, Sanae Rahimi, Mohammed Zouak, Fatima Anejdam, Adil Alaoui, Mohamed Bourouis, Ahmed Arkam and Youssef Belhaissi.
