INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech: International Recognition of Morocco’s Contribution to Global Security (President)

Hosting this supreme governing body of INTERPOL (24–27 November) is also a recognition of the Kingdom’s constant presence in all forums related to safety and security, as well as its active engagement within the Organization, Al-Raisi emphasized during a press conference in Marrakech.

“I am extremely pleased to be in our beloved country, Morocco, a country of security and peace. A country that places full importance on international police cooperation, that strongly believes in effective participation and security as an indivisible responsibility: a joint action,” he said.

Organizing such a major event is a further demonstration of the Kingdom’s prominent position as a key actor in various INTERPOL bodies, initiatives, and actions, as well as its sustained support for the Organization, Al-Raisi added.

He also praised the Kingdom’s “major and central role” in maintaining global security, noting that Morocco, due to its strategic geographic position at the crossroads of Africa, the Arab world, and Europe, continuously works to facilitate communication and cooperation among the continents.

“There is no doubt that hosting this event, after welcoming security officials from around the world in 2007, once again confirms the Kingdom’s strong commitment to close security cooperation among INTERPOL member countries,” at a time when the world faces multiple significant challenges, particularly in cybersecurity and transnational crime, he stressed.

Al-Raisi also highlighted the Kingdom’s considerable contribution and “very important” role in strengthening African security, noting that Morocco, as INTERPOL Vice President for Africa, spares no effort to promote cooperation with the continent’s states, especially regarding training and joint operations.

“Most of the operations conducted in the region have seen Morocco among the first countries present,” he stressed.

“We are extremely proud of Morocco’s achievements in the field of security and security cooperation, in Africa, the Arab world, and internationally,” the INTERPOL President said.

Al-Raisi, who took the opportunity to congratulate Morocco for hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, expressed INTERPOL’s confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to successfully host such international sporting events.

He also reviewed the progress achieved by INTERPOL under his mandate, notably the promotion of international cooperation, expansion of the database, increase in the number and scope of joint operations, strengthening women’s participation, and ensuring equal representation of different continents within governing bodies.

Composed of delegates appointed by the governments of member countries, INTERPOL’s General Assembly meets once a year and makes all major decisions regarding general policy, resources necessary for international cooperation, working methods, and finances, which take the form of resolutions.

The General Assembly, the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders, is also an excellent opportunity for countries to build relationships and share experiences.
