During the monthly oral questions session dedicated to public policy and focused on the theme “Territorial Development and the Challenges of Achieving Spatial Justice”, Mr. Akhannouch stated that under this increase, financial support will now amount to 250 dirhams for each of the first three school-aged children or children under six, and 175 dirhams for each non-school-aged child.
With regard to fatherless orphaned children who are under six years old and enrolled in school, the support will reach 375 dirhams for each of the first three children, he added, noting that the minimum amount of direct assistance per family cannot be less than 500 dirhams, regardless of its composition, especially for families without children or with only one child.
Mr. Akhannouch also noted that the government will work to implement assistance allocated to orphaned and abandoned children placed in social protection institutions, in order to ensure that they too benefit from the principles of the social State and institutional solidarity, in line with the Will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and to strengthen their opportunities for socio-economic integration once they reach adulthood.
He further emphasized that the social-State approach adopted by the Kingdom is the result of a structured path stemming from a sovereign Royal Vision that has been firmly and clearly consolidated over the past twenty-five years, noting that this trajectory was crowned by the launch of the project to generalize social protection, as a continuation of the Wise Royal Initiatives aimed at preserving citizens’ dignity and consolidating the foundations of social justice.
Thanks to the mobilization of State institutions and various national stakeholders, he continued, the Kingdom has been able, in a short period of time, to implement the social assistance program, which currently covers more than 4 million families, representing over 12 million beneficiaries, including more than 5 million children protected against risks related to childhood, in addition to around 1.5 million beneficiaries aged over 60 years.
