On this occasion, Consul General Abdelilah Nejjari highlighted the profound significance of these three major milestones. First, the independence of the Kingdom of Morocco in 1956 under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed V, may God rest his soul. A founding achievement that embodied the victory of the united will of the Throne and the people, firmly aligned in defending the sacred values and immutable constants of the Nation.
The event also commemorated the glorious Green March, envisioned and launched by His Majesty King Hassan II, may God sanctify his soul, on November 6, 1975. This historic step allowed the Kingdom to recover its Southern Provinces and strengthen its territorial integrity, opening a new era of development and national construction.
The celebration further honored the establishment of October 31 as the National Unity Day, proclaimed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This royal decision recognizes the adoption, on that same date, of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which represents a landmark achievement resulting from His Majesty’s continuous efforts and personal commitment to the national cause since His accession to the Throne. It marks a decisive step in consolidating Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, closing the chapter on an artificial dispute, and securing international recognition of its legitimacy. Through the enlightened leadership of His Majesty, the national cause has shifted from a phase of management to one of strategic transformation, making the Autonomy Initiative the sole framework for resolving the conflict.
Participants were also introduced to the details of the comprehensive development momentum underway in the Southern Provinces, as part of the new development model launched by His Majesty the King.
During this gathering, attendees from diverse backgrounds expressed their pride in these three historic events and reaffirmed their unwavering attachment to their national identity and to the territorial unity of the Kingdom of Morocco. They also expressed their deep loyalty to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect Him, under whose leadership Morocco has achieved major progress in political reforms and economic and social development.
The event brought together representatives of Moroccan community organizations from the three regions covered by the consular district, in addition to leaders of Islamic centers and federations, as well as numerous accomplished Moroccan nationals residing in Italy, including local administration officials, doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, athletes, and figures active in regional and local public affairs.
On the sidelines of this celebration, a communication session was held covering several themes, including the role of associations and religious leaders, as well as the significant progress achieved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad in digitalization, modernization, and simplification of consular services.
