During this commemorative ceremony, presided over by Crown Prince Al Hussein Ibn Abdullah II, several figures who contributed to the rise of Jordanian football were honored. Among them was Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami, recognized for his contribution and notable experience in the Jordanian league, alongside former players, technical staff, officials, and partners who marked different eras of football in the Hashemite Kingdom.
A true historic gathering, this diamond jubilee brought together a prestigious audience: Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, President of the Federation, the Moroccan Ambassador to Amman, Fouad Akhrif, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as well as representatives from several foreign federations, giving the ceremony a strong international dimension.
One of the highlights of the evening was the screening of a short film titled From the Shadow of Dreams to the Lights of Glory, retracing nearly a century of football passion in Jordan, from the first matches played in 1923 to the historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup. A musical composition created especially for the occasion further amplified the collective emotion sparked by this retrospective.
The Federation also used this opportunity to unveil the new trophy of the Jordanian professional championship, designed by local artisans and adorned with patterns inspired by the country’s cultural heritage, symbolizing national sporting ambition and renewal.
Finally, Jordanian officials presented the strategic pillars of the Football Development Plan 2029, built around four major priorities: improving technical standards, training and professionalizing key actors, developing infrastructure, and strengthening the social impact of football in the country.
Through this recognition, Jamal Sellami once again sees his expertise and commitment acknowledged beyond national borders, confirming Morocco’s influential presence in the regional football landscape.
