Ryad Mezzour: Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (IMME) are a strategic pillar of the national productive system

These industries supply essential sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, rail, water and electricity, and therefore occupy a central place in the Kingdom’s industrial development. Mr. Mezzour made this statement during the closing ceremony of the 13th edition of the International Subcontracting and Industrial Partnership Fair, SISTEP Industriel, organized by the Federation of Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (FIMME).

According to the Minister, IMME, which have seen significant progress, now mobilize nearly 75,000 professionals and generate an annual turnover of more than 80 billion dirhams. This confirms their potential for value creation and their structuring role within industrial chains.

However, these industries still face several major challenges. One of the key issues for the IMME sector, he noted, lies in the large-scale adoption of renewable energies in order to reduce its carbon footprint.

The IMME sector is also expected to strengthen its local integration and to further support the major industrial projects launched by the Kingdom. Mr. Mezzour stressed that additional investments are necessary to consolidate the contribution of these industries to large national projects.

For his part, Abdelhamid Souiri, president of FIMME and of the Interprofessional Group for Industrial Prevention and Safety (GIPSI), stated that SISTEP Industriel 2025, held under the theme “Modernization, industrial safety, innovation and national sovereignty of IMME”, reflects the shared determination of public and private actors to strengthen national competitiveness, stimulate innovation and consolidate a solid, resilient and forward-looking industrial base.

This year, he added, the fair is structured around the IMME sector, SIPEX, which is dedicated to industrial safety and prevention, and SITEC-IMME, the space reserved for technological innovation and creative companies in the sector. This reflects the ambition to offer a complete and integrated vision of tomorrow’s Moroccan industry, one that aims to be efficient, innovative and secure.

During this ceremony, FIMME signed two partnership agreements with the Moroccan Federation of Consulting and Engineering (FMCI) and the Moroccan Naval Industry Cluster.

In addition, six SISTEP 2025 awards were presented to Mohamed Fikrat, chairman of the management board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc and former president of GIPSI, as well as to the National Ports Agency, Cosumar Group, Riva Industries Group, the Moroccan Risk Observatory and the IPA Institute.

Bringing together more than 120 exhibitors from several African countries and more than 400 brands, this fair, held under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, showcased Moroccan industrial expertise and promoted interconnection between industrial sectors, the dissemination of advanced technologies and the acceleration of energy and digital transitions.

The program of SISTEP Industriel 2025 featured thematic conferences, B2B meetings, technical demonstrations and presentations dedicated to start-ups and applied research. The objective was to generate new business opportunities and strengthen the industrial growth of the Kingdom.
