Under the theme “Travel, Invest, Share: African Tourism on the Move,” this event brings together tourism professionals, investors, tour operators, hoteliers, airlines, and international experts from various backgrounds, who have come to Dakar to explore ways to promote tourism, culture, crafts, and transportation.
The Senegalese minister of Culture, Crafts, and Tourism, Amadou BA, emphasized that this fair aims to reclaim Africa’s place on the global tourism stage and “give our continent a strong and credible voice in a rapidly changing sector”, noting that the continent, the cradle of humanity, rich in natural and cultural heritage, has unparalleled potential to develop diversified and sustainable tourism capable of meeting the most varied expectations of visitors.
“Today, Africa is experiencing a 9% growth in international arrivals in 2024, compared to a global average of 5%,” he said, indicating that this momentum reflects a wind of change blowing across our continent, mirroring the vitality of our other economic sectors.
Held from December 8 to 11, this trade show will feature exhibitions of global tourism products, cultural and gastronomic events, conferences, panels and round tables on tourism financing, and a forum on halal tourism, in addition to an international conference on cruise tourism.
