This large-scale program includes the construction of 1,400 km of electric transmission lines to connect the Southern Provinces to the national grid, the implementation of desalination stations capable of producing 900 million m³ of water per year, as well as the development of an additional 1,200 MW in solar and gas energy.
These projects will be carried out in partnership with the Mohammed VI Investment Fund and TAQA Morocco, as part of agreements totaling 14 billion dollars, signed in May 2025.
The initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, create new job opportunities and strengthen sustainable development in the region. It also reflects the continued commitment of the United Arab Emirates to supporting Morocco’s sovereignty over its Southern Provinces, while opening the way to enhanced cooperation in the fields of energy and tourism in Africa.
