AFCON 2025: Casablanca Dresses in Africa’s Colors and Deploys a Large-Scale Welcome Plan

A city adorned in AFCON colors

No fewer than 25 bridges and 9 underpasses have been decorated in AFCON colors, reinforcing the competition’s visual identity across the city. Fourteen fan zones, including two official ones, will be set up, alongside a wide-ranging program of activities throughout the tournament.

Accelerated infrastructure and urban upgrades

The city has stepped up work on major structuring projects, notably along the urban highway, new road interchanges and strategic axes. Casablanca’s main gateways, from the airport side, Casablanca–Rabat, Dar Bouazza and Médiouna, have undergone beautification and upgrading operations. Bridges and underpasses have been rehabilitated, while public lighting has been reinforced along major roads, key squares and high-traffic areas.

Enhanced sports facilities and mobility

Upgrading works at the city’s main stadiums have been accelerated. At the same time, particular attention has been given to mobility, with strengthened intermodality, improved links with the airport, adapted access to stadiums and the implementation of specific traffic plans on match days. A preventive system to deal with adverse weather conditions, strong interdepartmental coordination and the mobilization of the taxi sector complete this component.

Reception, entertainment and hospitality

In addition to the official fan zones, the city is encouraging private fan zones, conceived as genuine spaces for cultural exchange and territorial diplomacy. Coordination with hotel establishments has been strengthened to improve reception and crowd management, while exceptional measures have been adopted for restaurants, cafés and entertainment venues, notably extended opening hours. Major public spaces will host activities celebrating Casablanca’s identity and Africa’s cultural diversity.

Cleanliness and the city’s image

Finally, special emphasis has been placed on urban cleanliness, health inspections of establishments open to the public and the maintenance of public spaces, in order to reflect the image of a modern, welcoming and vibrant Casablanca.

With this ambitious plan, Casablanca confirms its status as a major host city for AFCON 2025 and prepares to experience, alongside Africa, an exceptional sporting and festive event.
