The new park, which will open to the general public starting Tuesday, marks the rebirth of a historic space, now redesigned to meet contemporary standards for leisure, environmental protection, and animal welfare.
The opening ceremony of this major project was held in the presence of Nabila Rmili, President of the Casablanca Communal Council, alongside figures from the cultural and educational sectors and civil society representatives.
A Journey Across Three Continents
Spanning an area of 13 hectares, the park offers an immersive experience into biodiversity through three distinct geographic zones: Africa, Asia, and South America. Each space has been meticulously designed to replicate the natural habitats of the species residing there, providing visitors with an educational discovery of global wildlife.
In a statement to MAP, the Director General of the Aïn Sebaâ Zoological Park, Mohamed Mgharfaoui, expressed his pride in the reopening, describing the site as a “true natural lung” in the heart of Casablanca. He highlighted the park’s modern and responsible approach:
• Over 500 animals representing more than 75 species.
• Preservation focus on endangered species.
• Specially designed enclosures to respect biological and behavioral needs.
A Century of History Modernized
General Curator Pierre-Marie Beaugé celebrated the reopening nearly 100 years after the park’s original inauguration. He noted that the new site is the result of several years of sustained effort to prioritize animal well-being and natural expression.
Beyond wildlife viewing, the park has been conceived as a comprehensive leisure destination featuring:
• Restaurants and play areas.
• Educational panels and Virtual Reality immersion tools.
• Modernized infrastructure with high safety and hygiene standards.
