Carried out in coordination with the services of the Al-Quds Governorate, this action benefited schools serving the Bedouin Arab Al Jahalin communities in the areas of Khan Al Ahmar and Wadi Abu Hindi, as well as schools in the Al-Quds Badia, Al Mentar and the Al Eizariya community, with the aim of improving the educational environment in these institutions.
On this occasion, the head of the Khan Al Ahmar village council, Eid Khamis, praised “the Moroccan support for the education sector in the Al-Quds Badia”, stressing that this assistance directly contributes to “improving the educational process and keeping more than 180 pupils at the Khan Al Ahmar mixed primary school”.
Mr Khamis expressed his sincere thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the Moroccan government and people “in recognition of this constant support for the Palestinian people, especially in remote areas suffering from a lack of educational opportunities”, commending the role of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency in implementing this project.
In the same vein, the school principal, Halima Al Zahaiqa, said the school suffers from a significant shortage of teaching materials, noting that this equipment is essential to ensure proper knowledge transmission and to motivate pupils to learn.
She specified that the Khan Al Ahmar mixed primary school receives pupils from five communities, namely Khan Al Ahmar, Karchan, Tabna, Arara and Abu Fallah, and currently has 164 pupils from preschool to tenth grade.
For his part, the representative of the Wadi Abu Hindi community, Mohammed Al Hamadin, expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty the King for this support, which “comes in a context marked by repeated attacks against Bedouin communities by settlers”.
Mr Al Hamadin specified that the assistance consisted of “the provision of textbooks, stationery, computers, tables, chairs and cleaning products”, noting that these schools had an urgent need for this essential equipment in order to ensure children’s education in an appropriate environment.
For her part, Inaam Abu Zaiter, in charge of general affairs at the Governorate, welcomed the continued support for threatened schools in the Al-Quds region, considering this assistance to be “a fundamental lever to strengthen the resilience of pupils and citizens in the targeted areas”.
Ms Abu Zaiter also stressed “the importance of this project, which lies in strengthening the resilience of citizens on their land, especially within the beneficiary Bedouin communities”, expressing the hope that the next phases will see the implementation of additional development projects aimed at reinforcing teaching resources and improving the educational environment in these schools.
