A statement by the House of Councillors indicates that a joint communiqué was issued on the occasion of the official visit carried out by the President of the House, Mohamed Ould Errachid, to the Kingdom of Bahrain from 12 to 16 January, at the invitation of the President of the Bahraini Consultative Council, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh. The text specifies that the Kingdom of Bahrain renews “the affirmation of its position supporting the Moroccan nature of the Sahara and the Autonomy Initiative for the settlement of the issue of the Moroccan Sahara”, while welcoming United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted on 31 October 2025, which it considers “an important step toward reaching a realistic and applicable solution”.
The statement underlines that this visit falls within the framework of strengthening the fraternal relations and the distinguished cooperation uniting the two brotherly countries, in accordance with the High Guidance of the leaders of the two kingdoms, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa.
It adds that the talks held on this occasion highlighted the depth of the historical relations and the strong fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Morocco, founded on solidarity, mutual respect and permanent coordination on the various issues of common interest.
Both sides welcomed the advanced level reached by bilateral relations, as well as the essential role played by legislative institutions in supporting parliamentary cooperation and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, in the service of the interests and national causes of the two brotherly countries.
In this context, the President of the Consultative Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain stressed that the historical depth, the deeply rooted fraternal relations and the close cooperation between the two kingdoms embody the highest values of brotherhood, partnership and shared destiny, noting that these relations rest on solid and lasting foundations.
He also praised the efforts deployed by the Kingdom of Morocco to strengthen bridges of communication, cooperation and parliamentary coordination between the parliaments of Arab and African countries, as well as its hosting of constructive parliamentary dialogues and meetings, reflecting its will to expand the fields of legislative and parliamentary cooperation and to promote the common interests of States.
For his part, Mr Ould Errachid highlighted the important role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain at the level of the Asian continent, as well as its active contribution to strengthening regional parliamentary action and to promoting the values of dialogue and cooperation among Asian parliaments.
In this framework, he praised the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the presidency of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly as of January 2026, expressing his conviction that this presidency will constitute a major step to energize joint parliamentary action and to strengthen convergence and integration among the countries of the Asian continent.
The President of the House of Councillors also expressed his sincere will to work jointly to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Africa and Asia, relying on the strategic position of the Kingdom of Morocco and its African anchorage, and its readiness to contribute actively to the development of interregional parliamentary partnerships and to the support of South South dialogue, in order to meet common challenges and to consolidate peace, development and shared prosperity.
Both sides finally affirmed their determination to strengthen cooperation between the Consultative Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, through the activation of joint working mechanisms, the intensification of exchanges of visits and the strengthening of coordination within regional and international parliamentary bodies.
They concluded by reaffirming their will to continue strengthening bilateral and parliamentary cooperation in the service of common causes and the aspirations of the Moroccan and Bahraini peoples for more progress and prosperity.
