Senegalese TV channel under fire after airing an incomplete map of Morocco

The incident quickly triggered strong reactions in Morocco, particularly on social media, where many users expressed their indignation. For many, the broadcast was perceived as an explicit challenge to Morocco’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In response, several observers and citizens have called on the channel to provide a public explanation and issue an official apology. These calls have been all the more insistent given that Senegal is among the African countries that have clearly expressed their support for Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue, notably through the opening of a Senegalese consulate in Dakhla in 2021.

As of now, no official statement or clarification has been issued by the management of Senegal 5 regarding this controversial broadcast.

It is worth recalling that Morocco considers the Sahara issue to be a fundamental and non-negotiable matter, and firmly opposes any representation or communication that could undermine its territorial unity.
