Trail Lac Lalla Takerkoust 2026 confirms its scale at its 8th edition, with more than 1,000 participants expected

The 2026 edition marks a historic participation record, with more than 1,000 runners registered, reflecting the spectacular growth of trail running in Morocco. More than 40 percent of participants will be women, an unprecedented figure that confirms the openness, accessibility and growing appeal of the discipline to all audiences.

Another strong indicator of this momentum is that 30 percent of participants come from abroad, with some traveling specifically for the event, confirming the international reach of Moroccan trail running. Loyal runners are also once again answering the call, returning year after year and opting for longer and more demanding distances, a sign of a trail community that is clearly maturing.

Thanks to the heavy rainfall of recent months and the recent snowfall in the High Atlas, the Lac Lalla Takerkoust site will offer an exceptional setting in 2026, rarely seen in more than 30 years. Lush trails, reshaped reliefs and spectacular panoramas will define a natural environment at its peak, just outside Marrakech.

For several years, the Trail Lac Lalla Takerkoust has established itself as the meeting point for “Hôtels en Forme”, bringing together hotel establishments, companies and partners around sport, team cohesion and well-being. This edition also confirms the strong commitment of sponsors to the values promoted by Trail Maroc, whether sporting, social or environmental, a long-term engagement that strengthens the project’s credibility.

Knowledge transfer holds a central place in the event. The Kids Trail, organized on Saturday, will place children in the spotlight through a fun and educational introduction to trail running, encouraging the learning of effort, respect for nature and solidarity from an early age.

The Volkswagen Trail Lac Lalla Takerkoust is also part of a clearly defined eco-responsible approach, based on voluntary limits on participant numbers, responsible waste management, participant awareness and social initiatives focused on children and the local area. This represents a concrete commitment to preserving a fragile natural site while generating a positive and sustainable social impact.

Major partners are supporting the Trail Lac Lalla Takerkoust in its growth and share a common vision of responsible sport, actively contributing to its national and international reach.
