Government Unveils Aid and Support Program for Populations Affected by Floods in the North and West of the Kingdom

In this context, and in accordance with the High Royal Directives, the Government has mobilized all relevant departments to ensure the optimal implementation of this program, which was developed on the basis of a precise assessment of the situation on the ground and the needs of the affected populations, according to a statement from the Department of the Head of Government.

It was thus decided to grant direct financial assistance to affected families of up to 6,000 dirhams per household, to provide financial support amounting to 15,000 dirhams for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small businesses, and assistance of 140,000 dirhams for the reconstruction of homes that collapsed as a result of the floods, the same source specifies.

Accordingly, with regard to emergency financial assistance allocated to each affected family, which will be disbursed starting next week, the head of each concerned household is required to send an SMS to the number 1212 indicating their National Electronic Identity Card number and date of birth, in order to allow the competent services to verify the family’s situation and process the request as quickly as possible.

As for assistance intended for the rehabilitation of damaged homes and small businesses, as well as aid for the reconstruction of collapsed homes, the competent commissions will conduct precise on-site census operations of buildings in the areas declared disaster zones. This process will allow those concerned, if necessary, to submit their requests to the specialized commissions for examination in accordance with the regulatory measures in force, in a manner that guarantees transparency and fairness.

In the agricultural sector, support will be provided to affected farmers through the launch of a spring cropping program adapted to the specific characteristics of the affected regions, including oilseed, cereal, and forage crops. This will be accompanied by support for the purchase of seeds and fertilizers in order to accelerate the recovery of the season, while continuing assistance operations for affected livestock farmers.

The statement emphasizes that this program is in line with the High Royal Solicitude aimed at ensuring exemplary supervision and management of evacuation and displacement operations for affected populations, in accordance with an anticipatory approach to potential risk levels and through the mobilization of all logistical means capable of guaranteeing the relocation of populations from disaster-stricken areas under the best conditions and their return to their homes as soon as possible.
