Open Days of the Consulates General in France: A Proximity Initiative for Moroccans Living in the Hexagon

This initiative, organized under the supervision of the Embassy of Morocco in Paris, comes as part of the mobilization of the Moroccan consular network in France to facilitate users’ access to consular services and to further bring the administration closer to citizens.

It is also in line with the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad to concretely implement on the ground the High Solicitude with which His Majesty King Mohammed VI surrounds Moroccan nationals living around the world, through the continuous improvement of proximity services and the strengthening of consular support.

On this occasion, all consulates will be mobilized to ensure the smooth running of this operation and to offer the concerned Moroccan nationals appropriate conditions for collecting their documents.

This operation illustrates the constant commitment to improving the quality of consular services and meeting the expectations of members of the Moroccan community.

In a statement to MAP, the Consul General of the Kingdom in Colombes, Nadya Talmi, affirmed that this operation, the second organized during the holy month of Ramadan, aims to respond to the needs of members of the Moroccan community and to meet their expectations in terms of the delivery of proximity consular services.

It indeed provides a time slot for those who cannot attend during the usual opening days and hours of the Consulate General, allowing them to come at the end of the week to collect their passport, national identity card, adular act or any other certificate, she explained.

As part of the High Solicitude of His Majesty the King towards Moroccans of the World, these days are also used to make available to users an advisory desk concerning civil status and notarial services in particular, and to assist and facilitate appointment bookings on the online platform, she added.

For his part, the Consul General of the Kingdom in Lille, Abdelkader Abidine, stated that these initiatives, which are part of the High Instructions and Guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to provide appropriate assistance and support to Moroccan nationals residing abroad, not only facilitate consular procedures for users but also give them the opportunity to benefit from advice, information and guidance from the staff of the Consulate General, particularly in legal and notarial matters.

Moreover, the Consulate General also sets up a desk dedicated to assisting persons wishing to book appointments online.

These actions, he continued, are highly appreciated by members of the Moroccan community and are part of the national strategy aimed at better adapting consular action to their needs and improving the quality of services offered to them during their visits.

To this end, they are welcomed in a pleasant setting that guarantees comfort and swift handling of their requests, added the Consul General of the Kingdom in Lille.

The Consul of Morocco in Bordeaux, Nouzha Sahel, for her part, indicated that these proximity actions serving the Moroccan community reflect the constant will of this consular representation to anchor its action in regularity and continuity.

“Beyond their administrative dimension, these days offer genuine opportunities for meeting, listening and direct dialogue with members of the Moroccan community,” she explained to MAP. They allow for personalized support to users, particularly social cases, the elderly and persons with reduced mobility, she noted.

“As the month of Ramadan is also a period during which many of our fellow citizens travel to Morocco to spend time with their families, the consulate ensures that their administrative procedures are facilitated in advance, enabling them to travel under the best conditions,” she stated.

In addition, complementing the open days, a home service has been put in place to respond to certain specific situations.

“Consular outreach visits are also planned, as in previous years, in several departments located far from the consulate’s headquarters, in order to ensure a proximity public service as close as possible to the place of residence of our fellow citizens,” she affirmed, noting that “this initiative is part of a vision based on proximity, accessibility and modernization of the consular public service.”

She added that through all these actions, “the consulate reaffirms its constant commitment to a human, efficient public service attentive to the needs of Moroccans residing within the consular district.”
