First media appearance for Mohamed Ouahbi: A new era begins for the Atlas Lions

On this occasion, the new coach will unveil the list of players called up for the upcoming international fixtures, a key moment that will offer a first glimpse into his choices and vision for the national team, as it approaches a particularly busy schedule dominated by preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

To kick off this new phase, two friendly matches have been scheduled. The Atlas Lions will first face the Ecuador national team on March 27 in Madrid, before taking on the Paraguay national team on March 31 in Lens, France.

These two encounters will serve as a first full-scale test for Mohamed Ouahbi, allowing him to assess the form of his players, try out new options, and begin to impose his tactical approach. They will also provide an opportunity to integrate new profiles and build group cohesion around his playing principles.

At the same time, the technical staff is undergoing a notable reshuffle with the arrival of Youssef Hajji as assistant coach. The former Moroccan international will support João Sacramento, first assistant, in the team’s day-to-day management.

This reinforcement aims to bring greater expertise and complementarity within the technical staff, while capitalizing on Hajji’s experience as a keen observer of Moroccan football and the demands of top-level competition.

The press conference will take place at 12:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mohammed VI Football Complex, an emblematic venue for national team gatherings. It will be closely followed by observers and supporters, eager to discover the new coach’s first directions.

Beyond the simple announcement of the squad list, this first media appearance by Mohamed Ouahbi above all represents the starting point of a new cycle for the Atlas Lions, with high ambitions on the international stage.
