“Several hours ago, U.S. forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound (2.3-ton) bunker-buster bombs against Iranian missile sites positioned along Iran’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz,” the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement posted on X.
According to the same source, “the anti-ship cruise missiles stationed at these sites posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the strait.”
In a separate post on X, CENTCOM stated that U.S. forces are continuing operations aimed at tracking and neutralizing “Iranian targets that pose a threat to Americans and neighboring countries.”
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military offensive against Iran. In the early hours of the operation, a strike reportedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
The conflict subsequently escalated as Iran responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel and several Gulf states, while also blocking the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key passage through which nearly 20 percent of global oil production typically transits.
