Nasser Bourita Receives the New Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office for the Maghreb in Rabat

Rabat – Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, received today in Rabat Mr. Charaf Ahmimed, who presented his letter of appointment as Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office for the Maghreb.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and UNESCO, particularly in the fields of education, culture, sciences, and the preservation of both tangible and intangible heritage.

On this occasion, Mr. Bourita emphasized Morocco’s constant commitment, under the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to actively contribute to UNESCO’s regional and international initiatives and to strengthen the Kingdom’s role as a key actor in promoting intercultural dialogue and multilateral cooperation.

For his part, Mr. Charaf Ahmimed expressed his determination to work closely with Moroccan authorities and Maghreb countries in order to consolidate UNESCO’s programs in the region and support major projects in education, scientific research, and sustainable development.

This appointment further confirms Rabat’s position as a regional hub and center of international cooperation, hosting prestigious organizations dedicated to progress and the rapprochement of peoples.
