Territorial Cooperation: Ambassador Karima Benyaich Meets with the Mayor of Malaga
Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, held talks on Friday with the mayor of the Spanish city of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre Prados, focusing on ways to strengthen territorial cooperation relations.

On this occasion, Ms. Benyaich provided an overview of the democratic reforms undertaken by Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with a focus on the progress achieved in democratic governance, advanced regionalization, human development, the protection of freedoms and human rights, and the empowerment of women.
The diplomat also highlighted the progress made in strengthening the bilateral partnership and emphasized the role of the Moroccan community in Andalusia, which actively contributes to the region’s development.
“We had the opportunity to exchange views on ways to strengthen territorial cooperation between Morocco and Spain and to promote the exchange of experiences between Moroccan cities and their Spanish counterparts, particularly Malaga,” she added.
During the meeting, which forms part of ongoing contacts with Spanish officials, Mr. Prados praised the exemplary nature of the multidimensional cooperation between Malaga and several Moroccan cities, affirming his willingness to “make this cooperation even broader and more ambitious.”
“This exchange with Ms. Benyaich was very enriching and has convinced me more than ever that cooperation between Spain and Morocco and, more broadly, between Europe and Morocco, as well as with the whole of Africa, is a path that we must pursue clearly, deeply and with determination,” he told MAP.
This meeting comes on the occasion of the 29th edition of the Malaga Festival, which is honoring Moroccan cinema with the opening screening of the feature film Calle Málaga, by Moroccan director Maryam Touzani.
