Achraf Hakimi Gives Positive Injury Update, Says National Team is Determined to Keep Trophy at Home
Rabat - Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi said on Saturday in Rabat that he feels "good" after his ankle injury, assuring that the national team is determined to keep the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled from December 21 to January 18, at home.

“We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and we are aware of our responsibility during this AFCON,” Hakimi stressed, noting that “the national team has worked hard to be ready and to keep the trophy at home.”
“We know there are high expectations from the Moroccan public because we are playing at home,” he added, pointing out that “we have a strong, solid, and balanced squad that we will showcase during the competition.”
Regarding his injury, Hakimi affirmed, “I feel good and I am following my rehabilitation program. I hope to be ready to play, but the final decision rests with the national team coach.”
He also recalled that “this AFCON is special for me because it is being played at home with all Moroccans behind us to cheer us on, which is an extra motivation for us to give everything for the Moroccan jersey,” adding that “we will try to find the right balance between the pillars of the national team and the younger players to compete in this tournament.”
