Rachid Talbi Alami Receives Members of the Follow-Up Committee to the Recommendations of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Economic Parliamentary Forum

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, received on Friday at the headquarters of the Chamber the members of the Follow-Up Committee tasked with implementing the recommendations resulting from the Moroccan-Mauritanian Economic Parliamentary Forum.

This meeting, which follows the first edition of the Forum held in Nouakchott in May 2025, is of paramount importance to assess the achievements made during the elapsed period, Mr. Talbi Alami stressed on the occasion, according to a statement by the Chamber.

The Speaker called on the Committee to continue its work in order to finalize and implement the various programs and commitments related to the vital sectors identified by the Forum. He underlined that the Moroccan government is in the process of operationalizing the Forum’s recommendations and establishing thematic committees to ensure rigorous follow-up and optimal implementation of these recommendations.

For his part, the Vice-President of the Mauritanian National Assembly, Ahmedou Mahfoud M’Balle, emphasized that this preliminary meeting constitutes a major step toward activating the strategic partnership between the two countries, which are bound by strong historical and friendly ties. He called for accelerating the pace of bilateral cooperation to secure mutual benefits for the two friendly peoples.

The meeting was attended, on the Moroccan side, by the President of the Istiqlalian Group of Unity and Egalitarianism, Allal Amraoui; the President of the Socialist Group – Ittihadi Opposition, Abderrahim Chahid; the President of the Constitutional Democratic and Social Group, Belassal Chaoui; the President of the Progress and Socialism Group, Rachid Hamouni; the President of the Justice and Development Parliamentary Group, Abdellah Bouanou; and the President of the Morocco-Mauritania Parliamentary Friendship Group, Sidi Saleh Idrissi.

The Mauritanian delegation included members of the National Assembly, as well as its Secretary-General, Abdallah Ould Saleh.

Prior to this meeting, the Follow-Up Committee to the recommendations of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Economic Parliamentary Forum held a session in the presence of the Secretary of State in charge of Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Redouane Arrach, and central directors at the ministry. The session was devoted to presenting and reviewing the commitments of both governments in the fields of trade and agriculture.
