Dakhla: Oued Eddahab at the Heart of the National Export Strategy
The Dakhla Oued Eddahab region hosted, on Friday December 26, the second stop of the regional forums dedicated to assessing the mid term results of the 2025 to 2027 Foreign Trade Development Program, held under the theme: “Regions, drivers of exports”.
Held at the headquarters of the Wilaya of Dakhla, this meeting is part of the effort to strengthen territorial equity in exports, to measure the level of regional ownership of the program, and to gather the expectations of local economic operators, in a context marked by disparities between the regions of the Kingdom.
The proceedings were chaired by Omar Hejira, Secretary of State in charge of Foreign Trade, in the presence in particular of Mohamed Rachdi, Governor of the Province of Aousserd, Abdelrazak Kourji, Secretary General of the Wilaya, and Mbark Hmiyya, First Vice President of the Regional Council. Members of Parliament, local elected officials, representatives of professional chambers and economic stakeholders also took part in the meeting.
The forum saw broad institutional participation, with the presence of officials from Maroc PME, the Dakhla Atlantique Port project, the Moroccan Export Insurance Company, as well as representatives of the CGEM and ASMEX.
The discussions made it possible to present the main measures of the 2025 to 2027 Program, designed to support companies, especially regional ones, in accessing international markets and strengthening their export competitiveness. The logistical and strategic assets of the region were highlighted, in particular through the structuring Dakhla Atlantique Port project, which is expected to play a central role in the national export drive.
The meeting also underlined the key role of Dakhla Oued Eddahab in the implementation of the Royal Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which aims to facilitate access for Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean and to strengthen regional economic integration, South South exchanges and Morocco’s positioning as a strategic hub between Africa and the world.
An interactive debate also addressed the main challenges related to exports, financing and administrative and customs procedures, while highlighting the specific characteristics of the region and suitable avenues for improvement for its economic fabric.
This cycle of regional forums, launched in the Oriental region, seeks to bring export support mechanisms closer to local economic actors, to strengthen the coherence of public policies and to consolidate the international reach of the Moroccan economy, in line with the High Royal Guidelines.
