The FRMA Holds Its Ordinary General Assembly for the 2023-2024 Season

The Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA) held its ordinary general assembly (AGO) for the 2023-2024 sports season on Monday in Rabat, with the participation of 13 leagues and 39 clubs and associations.

This AGO, chaired by the president of the FRMA, Abdeslam Ahizoune, was attended by representatives from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.

The agenda of this AGO, marked by the unanimous adoption of the moral and financial reports, examined the draft budget for the 2025 fiscal year, the auditor’s report for the 2023-2024 sports season, the appointment of a new auditor, and the review of proposals submitted to the ordinary general assembly.

The moral report highlighted that 21,908 athletes from various age categories joined the clubs and associations, including 58 percent from the underage categories such as benjamins, minimes, cadets and juniors, which represents a significant indicator for talent detection to prepare the future elite of athletes.

The report also noted that the 2023-2024 sports season included the organization of 152 competitions in cross-country, athletics, championships and cups, stressing that this program, aimed at expanding the practice base, gathered the participation of 51,351 athletes.

The season recorded the classification of 194 sports associations and the establishment of 11 national records in events such as long jump for senior women, men’s indoor 800 m, women’s half-marathon, men’s indoor 400 m, men’s 10,000 m, junior women’s 100 m hurdles, men’s 800 m, men’s hammer throw, men’s 100 m hurdles and men’s 200 m.

Regarding the preparation of elite athletes through the sport-study pathway, the report stated that training provided in regional centers and at the Mohammed VI International Athletics Academy benefited 113 athletes under the supervision of 19 coaches. It also highlighted the monitoring of 66 senior national team athletes during their training at the regional center of Benslimane and the Mohammed VI International Athletics Academy in Ifrane, supervised by 8 coaches.

The document noted that Moroccan athletics delivered a strong performance at regional, continental and international events, ranking 22nd at the Paris Olympic Games among 196 participating countries.

Morocco also secured third place at the African Cross-Country Championships in Tunisia, won three medals gold, silver and bronze at the African Games in Ghana, and ranked fourth at the World Cross-Country Championships in Belgrade, in addition to winning 31 medals at the Arab Junior Championships held in the city of Taif in Saudi Arabia.

The financial report presented an analysis of the federation’s financial situation, including revenues and expenses compared with the previous season.
