Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation on Working to Norway
Oslo - A Moroccan parliamentary delegation carried out a working visit to Norway on 12-13 January to discuss, with members of the Norwegian Parliament (Storting), issues related to Morocco’s territorial integrity and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two Kingdoms.

The visit aimed to reinforce interparliamentary dialogue and included meetings with First Vice-President of the Storting Morten Wold and members of several parliamentary committees, attended by Morocco’s ambassador to Norway and Iceland Nabila Freidji.
Discussions focused mainly on recent developments regarding the Moroccan Sahara, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2797 adopted on 31 October 2025. The Moroccan delegation explained the political and legal significance of the resolution, emphasizing the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative under Moroccan sovereignty as the only serious, credible, and lasting basis for a final political solution within the UN framework.
The talks also addressed growing international support for the Autonomy Initiative, development dynamics in Morocco’s Southern provinces, Morocco’s stabilizing role in various regional spaces, and the Atlantic African Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Norwegian counterparts showed strong interest in Morocco’s reforms, including elections, women’s and youth representation, women’s rights, and social protection. Further exchanges highlighted Morocco’s economic dynamism, progress in energy transition -especially renewable energy and green hydrogen- and investment opportunities.
At the end of the visit, the Moroccan delegation invited Norwegian parliamentarians to visit Morocco to witness profound transformations on the ground and to enshrine regular and structured interparliamentary dialogue between both countries.
The delegation also met members of the Moroccan community in Norway to discuss their living conditions, integration, and ties with Morocco, reaffirming the importance of Moroccans abroad as a key component of the country’s development and international influence.
