The Council of the Casablanca-Settat Region Approves Development Projects

The Council of the Casablanca-Settat region approved, during its ordinary March session held Monday in Casablanca, a series of development projects of an economic and social nature.

Held under the chairmanship of the President of the Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, in the presence in particular of the Wali of the region, Mohamed Mhidia, the session was marked by the review and adoption of the programming of several projects aimed at reducing territorial disparities and bringing basic services closer to the population, as part of the implementation of the Regional Development Program.

With regard to promoting employment and enhancing investment attractiveness through the organization of distribution chains, the Council notably approved a partnership agreement concerning the development of an economic and logistics activity zone in the commune of Ouled Saleh, in the province of Nouaceur.

Council members also approved two framework partnership agreements relating to the implementation of the “Ouled Saleh” industrial acceleration zone project and the “Ouled Azzouz” industrial zone project, as well as the adoption of a memorandum of understanding concerning technical assistance for the management of strategic projects linked to the organization of the 2030 World Cup in the Casablanca-Settat region.

In order to improve healthcare services and bring medical and social services closer to citizens, the Council approved a partnership agreement for the construction and equipment of a reproductive health reference center in the commune of Médiouna.

It also adopted partnership agreements relating to the construction of the provincial hospital center in Sidi Bernoussi, the training of young people with autism and individuals with similar disabilities from underprivileged families, as well as support for the hemodialysis centers of Benslimane and Bouznika, the addiction treatment center, and the psychiatric diseases center of Benslimane.

As part of accelerating integrated and sustainable regional development and improving citizens’ living conditions by strengthening economic and social infrastructure across the region’s provinces, the Council approved amendments to certain agreements in order to speed up their implementation.

In this regard, amendments were adopted concerning public lighting works on the Taddart road linking the Ville Verte of Bouskoura to Mohammed V International Airport, the organization of digital sector events, and support for youth training in digital technologies.

The session was also marked by the approval of the allocation of the remaining real surplus for the 2025 fiscal year.

On this occasion, Mr. Maâzouz stated to the press that the session’s work was marked by the adoption of a set of projects and programs aimed at reducing territorial disparities and bringing basic services closer to citizens.

He added that the priorities of the adopted projects concern economic and social sectors with a direct impact on territorial equity and job creation, specifying that they mainly relate to strengthening the economy, employment and entrepreneurship, as well as supporting social, sports and cultural dynamics.

He further indicated that the item relating to the election of delegates representing the Regional Council within the inter-municipal group “Attaâdoud,” responsible for managing the Al Ihssane cemetery in the province of Médiouna, was postponed to the next meeting, as the session was kept open.

The session also included the presentation of a report on the activities of the Council’s presidency and a briefing on the progress status of the 2022-2027 Regional Development Program as of the end of February 2026. According to the report, the interim assessment shows an implementation rate exceeding 55 percent, covering the various areas of regional intervention.
