Tanger Court of Appeal Prosecutor Investigates Manipulated Videos Linked to Floods in Ksar El Kébir
The Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Appeal of Tangier has opened a judicial investigation following the circulation on social media of videos containing misleading information that claim to show extensive material damage allegedly caused by the recent rainfall in the city of Ksar El Kébir.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, these videos do not reflect the reality of the situation on the ground. Technical analyses revealed that they were produced using artificial intelligence technologies, with the aim of misleading public opinion and spreading false information.
The opening of this investigation falls within the framework of the Prosecutor’s Office’s vigilance in the face of the spread of fake news and its determination to combat any practices likely to undermine citizens’ security, stability, or the general interest.
