Casablanca Hosts the First Africa EV Mobility Expo on Electric Mobility and Sustainability
The first edition of the Africa EV Mobility Expo, an event bringing together key local, regional, and global manufacturers and suppliers to showcase the latest electric vehicle technologies, was inaugurated on Wednesday in Casablanca, attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

Organized until November 22 by the Moroccan Association for Automotive Industry and Trade (AMICA) and MIE Group, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to discover global innovations and new trends in electric vehicles, batteries, charging solutions, and smart mobility.
Strategic Sino-Moroccan Partnership and Automotive Ambitions
Speaking at the opening ceremony, which was attended by Rachid Machou, President of AMICA, and David Wang, President of MIE Group, Mr. Mezzour recalled that Morocco and China have maintained a strategic partnership since the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to China in 2016. The Minister emphasized that the Kingdom considers China a leading partner in developing the automotive industry and the electric battery value chain.
He highlighted the exemplary performance of the Chinese industrialists present, who have demonstrated their expertise through their products, technologies, and competitiveness.
Mr. Mezzour noted that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HM the King, has established a production capacity of one million four-wheeled vehicles, as well as 400,000 to 500,000 two- and three-wheelers. He added that the market is experiencing sustained momentum, with sales expected to reach between 180,000 and 200,000 units this year. He stressed the profound transformation Morocco is undergoing and the necessity of building a common understanding of values and technologies for mutual success.
Jiangsu’s Vision for Cooperation and Global Development
For his part, Wang Shanhua, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Jiangsu, praised the high level of Sino-Moroccan relations.
He continued that the Africa EV Mobility Expo falls precisely within this strategic cooperation, reflecting concrete action aimed at promoting sustainable economic and commercial exchanges between Morocco and China and advancing together on the path of development.
Mr. Shanhua also gave an economic presentation of Jiangsu, highlighting the industrial, economic, and commercial assets of the Chinese province and demonstrating its potential for cooperation with Morocco.
For him, strengthening international cooperation around the industrial and supply chains of new energy vehicles and energy storage is not only essential for achieving carbon neutrality objectives but also an effective path toward high quality economic development.
The President of CCPIT Jiangsu also noted that Morocco, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, benefits from a privileged geographical location.
He asserted that the Kingdom possesses logistical advantages, natural resources, a forward looking strategy in new energies, and a stable investment environment. These factors offer considerable complementarities with Jiangsu’s ambitions to build a global industrial and technological innovation center, an internationally competitive manufacturing base, and a dual flow opening platform.
He added, “We wish to synergize the industrial advantage of ‘Made in Jiangsu’ with Morocco’s geostrategic advantage as a gateway to Africa and Europe, in order to help companies from both countries cooperate in technological R&D, industrial establishment, and mutual recognition of standards, to jointly conquer the African and European markets and achieve a higher level win-win partnership.”
Through the Africa EV Mobility Expo, which is considered the largest African trade show dedicated to electric mobility, Morocco confirms its role as a leader in clean and sustainable mobility, while offering Africa a major platform to shape its energy and industrial future.
