Morocco’s Senior Defense Official Receives Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defense

Rabat - On the High Royal Instructions, Morocco’s minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdeltif Loudyi, received, on Tuesday, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s federal minister for Defense, Muhammad Asif Khawaja, accompanied by a high-level delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

This visit, which forms part of the strengthening and diversification of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Defense, in a ceremony attended by Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, FAR Inspector General and Commander of the South Zone and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s ambassador to Rabat, the National Defense Administration said in a statement.

This MoU covers cooperation, mainly in training, drills and exercises, cybersecurity, the defense industry, military health as well as the exchange of experience and expertise and other fields of mutual interest. It also provides for the creation of a joint monitoring and coordination mechanism for cooperation activities agreed upon by both parties.

During the meeting, the two officials highlighted the importance of the partnership between the two countries and reviewed the different axes of bilateral military cooperation and the means of further bolstering it in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to underline the diverse South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the Leadership of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, which turned Morocco into an important actor for stability and an exporter of peace and security to its neighboring countries. In this respect, the two ministers underlined the importance of building strategic partnerships between Morocco and Pakistan as part of a beneficial South-South cooperation to the development of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two officials expressed the mutual ambition and will to bolster, in the future, these ties mainly through the implementation of the defense MoU signed today.
