Mauritanian Journalist Lassana Camara Praises AFCON 2025 and Moroccan Organization, Denounces Maneuvers Against a Historic Edition
Mauritanian sports journalist Lassana Camara has delivered an uncompromising analysis of the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco, which he does not hesitate to describe as the best AFCON in the history of African football. In a widely noted statement, he praised the excellence of the Moroccan organization while forcefully denouncing the maneuvers and disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining this outstanding success.

For Lassana Camara, the assessment is unequivocal: Morocco has set the bar at a level never reached before. Ultra-modern sports infrastructure, stadiums meeting international standards, well-managed logistics, exemplary reception conditions for teams, officials and supporters, as well as flawless security have made this AFCON an absolute benchmark. “What Morocco has shown Africa and the world goes far beyond the scope of a simple tournament. It is a demonstration of expertise, vision and respect for African football,” he stressed.
The Mauritanian journalist emphasized that this AFCON marked a decisive turning point in the history of the competition, both in terms of organization and the image of African football. According to him, the Kingdom has proven its ability to host the largest continental and international sporting events with a level of professionalism comparable to the world’s best competitions.
In the face of this resounding success, Lassana Camara deplores the emergence of malicious maneuvers and unfounded rumors aimed at tarnishing Morocco’s image and diverting attention from the success of the AFCON. He denounced orchestrated campaigns, relayed by certain hostile circles, seeking to sow doubt where the facts are clear and verifiable. “When an organization is flawless, the enemies of success have nothing left but lies as a weapon,” he stated.
Lassana Camara finally called for responsibility and ethics in media coverage of major African competitions. For him, the AFCON must remain a space for celebrating sport, unity and fraternity among African peoples, and not a field for political or ideological score-settling.
