The National Technical Directorate denies the rumors and affirms the independence of Walid Regragui’s decisions
The National Technical Directorate (DTN) formally denied all the rumors that have circulated over the past two days on social media, claiming that a meeting took place between it and the national team head coach Walid Regragui before the match against Zambia, which counts for the final day of the group stage of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In an exclusive statement given to the outlet Le7tv, the National Technical Director, Fathi Jamal, assured that this information is totally unfounded, stressing that the rumor claiming that any meeting with the national team head coach took place is “totally false”.
He also categorically denied any interference by the National Technical Directorate in the choices or technical decisions of the national team staff, insisting that the Moroccan national team constitutes an independent entity, holding all of its prerogatives and responsibilities.
Fathi Jamal specified that the role of the DTN is limited to accompanying and supporting the technical staff when this proves necessary, without any intervention in sporting decisions. He recalled that Walid Regragui remains the sole and only technical manager of the national team, and that all decisions related to the sporting domain fall exclusively under his authority, even if he works within a collective framework composed of an integrated technical staff.
The National Technical Director also underlined that the head coach benefits from full support and total confidence from the DTN, considering that the criticisms formulated against him at this stage lack objectivity, especially since qualification has been secured and a high level performance has been delivered.
He added that Regragui made the appropriate tactical choices, both in terms of the playing system and the starting lineup, not forgetting the technical adjustments made during the match, which in his view requires recognizing his efforts rather than calling them into question.
Fathi Jamal concluded by stating that any attempt to destabilize the national team head coach at this precise moment constitutes an attack on the national team as a whole, calling for people to rally around the Atlas Lions and to strengthen the values of unity, support and stability, in the interest of national football.
